Admittedly, it may not sound like a healthy side dish of vegetables, but it is still delicious, especially for onion fans.
Whether with a juicy steak or with poultry and fish - onions always fit. Fried onions can also be the icing on the cake for various salads. The crispy onions also represent a delicate alternative to potato chips & Co. Now for the recipe.
Ingredients and tools for deep-frying onions
- 4 onions
- Type 405 wheat flour
- ½ liter of sunflower or rapeseed oil
- sharp knife
- cutting board
- Deep fryer or large saucepan
- slotted spoon
- paper towels
Preparation of fried onions
➢ Step 1:
First, the onions are carefully peeled and then best cut into thin rings with a sharp knife on a cutting board. The oil is either poured into a saucepan or into the deep fryer and then heated. The sliced onion rings must now be dabbed dry with kitchen paper, no more juice should come out.
➢ Step 2:
Now pour some of the wheat flour into the bowl and turn the onion rings in it. As soon as the fat has reached a temperature of 170 degrees, the onions can be added.
➢ Step 3:
Fry the onions until they are golden brown in color. They are removed from the fat with a trowel and then drained well on kitchen paper. Now just season with salt and enjoy!
