When the sun is shining, life often takes place in the garden. However, too much sun is not good, which is why e.g. a shade sail in the garden should not be missing.Very popular at the moment: the sun sail
The sun sail is certainly one of the most popular types of shading in the garden today because it can be used flexibly in practically any garden. No matter whether it is a permanently installed, flexible or a retractable sun sail. You can use them not only as shade for indoor and outdoor use, but also as wind, rain and layer protection.
Sun sails are now available as individual made-to-measure items or in standard sizes. The latter variant is often even offered in hardware stores at affordable prices.
Tips for choosing a suitable sun sail
➤ Tip 1 - material selection:
It is important that you pay attention to the material used and its processing when buying a sun sail, which also guarantees a long service life. Especially when it comes to the choice of fabrics, the specialist trade strictly differentiates between waterproof, water-repellent and wind- and water-permeable fabrics. The latter selection of fabrics is primarily for indoor use, e.g. well suited for indoor pools, conservatories, etc., while waterproof and repellent fabrics can be used outdoors.
Incidentally, an awning experiences optimum durability through the use of stainless steel supports (alternatively, however, cheaper, hot-dip galvanized steel supports can also be used) in combination with various anchoring devices, e.g. Ratchets, slide rails, textile ropes, tensioners, etc.
➤ Tip 2 - shapes & colors:
The types of sails that are generally available in the trade mostly move between rectangles, squares and triangles. However, round and oval sail shapes are increasingly being requested for custom-made products. Depending on where you want to set up this sun protection, you should think about a suitable shape beforehand.
For most dealers, the color selection is subject to the RAL color card and is sometimes supplemented with sample fabrics. Shade sails in beige and light yellow tones are particularly popular with customers. However, fabrics in dark red, aubergine, dark green, anthracite and brown are also often ordered. As far as the color selection is concerned, you are spoiled for choice here.
➤ Tip 3 - prefer retractable awning:
Awnings can usually be placed anywhere in a garden. Only trees and tall shrubs that are an obstacle need to be taken into account. Furthermore, you should not shade plants with an awning, because these - if permanently shaded - would naturally die.
For this reason, you should prefer retractable awnings in the garden, so that even lawns can be supplied with sufficient sunlight from time to time. In the meantime, even electrically retractable sun sails are offered in this segment, which can be rated as extremely pleasant, especially with large-area sailcloths.
Furthermore, you can of course also shade terraces, balconies, outdoor seating and pool areas with a sun sail, which means that a great atmosphere can always be created in these places.
